Today's Panchanga

All five Panchanga elements calculated live, right now, using simplified sidereal astronomical formulas.

How this is calculated

We calculate the Sun and Moon's geocentric ecliptic position using simplified astronomical formulas (Meeus low-precision series), then convert to the sidereal (Lahiri ayanamsa) zodiac used in Vedic Panchang. This is the same class of approximation used by other simplified Panchang calculators — accurate for everyday reference, but not Swiss-Ephemeris-grade to the arcsecond, and it doesn't account for your exact location (it's geocentric, calculated for Earth's centre, not your city).

Because it reflects the astronomical value at this exact moment rather than a traditional sunrise-based daily label, it may occasionally differ by one unit from a printed Panchang's date-based listing — most often right around a Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga or Karana change. For ritual timing, confirm with a local Panchang.
