गणेश चतुर्थी २०२७

Ganesh Chaturthi 2027

Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Saturday, 4 September 2027 — ten days earlier than in 2026 — and Ganeshotsav ends with Visarjan on Tuesday, 14 September. The key detail this year: Chaturthi Tithi ends at about 12:25 PM, so the Sthapana muhurat is a short late-morning window.

Why 4 September — and why the muhurat ends at 12:25 PM

Ganesha is believed to have been born at Madhyahna, the middle fifth of the daytime, so Ganesh Chaturthi is kept on the day Chaturthi Tithi covers Madhyahna. In 2027 Chaturthi begins at about 2:18 PM on Friday, 3 September — just after that day's Madhyahna is over — and ends at about 12:25 PM on Saturday, 4 September.

So the festival falls on the 4th, but Chaturthi is only present for the first part of that day's Madhyahna (11:04 AM onwards in Delhi). That is why the Sthapana window closes at 12:25 PM everywhere in India, whatever the local sunrise. In a normal year the window is two and a half hours; in 2027 it is between one and two hours depending on the city. If you are bringing the idol home from a pandal or market, plan to reach home by late morning.
