Hindu Calendar Tithi Today

Today's Tithi, calculated live, plus every day of this month mapped to its Tithi — so you can see what's coming without checking back daily.

This month's Tithi calendar

Shukla Paksha (waxing) runs Pratipada→Purnima; Krishna Paksha (waning) runs Pratipada→Amavasya.

Calculated live using simplified sidereal astronomical formulas for New Delhi's time zone — not a fixed lookup table. Tithi boundaries can shift by a few hours either side of midnight depending on your exact location; for ceremony-critical timing, confirm with a local Panchang.

    What is a Tithi?

A Tithi is the time it takes the Moon to move 12° further from the Sun than it started — roughly, but not exactly, a day. There are 30 Tithis in a lunar month, split into two Pakshas of 15 each: Shukla (waxing, ending at Purnima/full moon) and Krishna (waning, ending at Amavasya/new moon). Because 12° of lunar motion doesn't divide evenly into 24 hours, a Tithi can run anywhere from about 19 to 26 hours — which is why, rarely, one civil day contains two Tithis, or one Tithi spans parts of three days.

    Frequently asked questions

    What Tithi is today?

See the live card at the top of this page — it's calculated for the current moment and updates whenever you reload.

Can two Tithis fall on the same calendar day?

Yes. If a Tithi is short — closer to 19 hours — it can begin and end entirely within one Gregorian day, so a single civil day can technically start in one Tithi and end in the next.

How accurate is this month's Tithi calendar?

It's calculated using the same simplified sidereal astronomical formulas used across this site — accurate to within a fraction of a degree of lunar position, which is enough to identify the correct Tithi for the vast majority of days. Near a Tithi's exact boundary hour, always cross-check a local Panchang before scheduling a ceremony.
