Adhik Jyeshtha — 2026 has a leap month

2026 carries an Adhik Masa (leap month): an extra, repeated Jyeshtha running roughly May 17 to June 15, 2026. That is why the festivals after it — Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Diwali — all fall noticeably later in 2026 than in 2025. Weddings and Griha Pravesh are traditionally avoided during the leap month. See Adhik Maas explained.

Gujarati calendar 2026: what to know

In 2026, Bestu Varas falls on a Tuesday (November 10). Set against 2027, this year's Moon-based festivals fall: Ram Navami 20 days earlier, Maha Shivaratri 19 days earlier, Akshaya Tritiya 19 days earlier, Holi 18 days earlier. Fixed to the solar calendar or a civil date, these stay on (almost) the same day in both years: Uttarayan. The 13 dates listed below run from January to November 2026.
