Each month of this calendar begins when the Sun enters a new zodiac sign (a Sankranti), so month start dates stay within a day or two of the same Gregorian date every year. In 2027 the Sun enters Mesha (Aries) in the afternoon of April 14 — late enough that some regions begin the new year on April 15.
